Function
Natural antioxidants pterostilbene is considered a powerful natural antioxidant, mainly manifested in:
1. Reduce oxidative stress and reactiveoxygenspecies (ROS), such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and superoxide anion (O2);
2. The expression of catalase in different cell lines increased, such as total glutathione, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase, superoxidedismutase (SOD), etc. It is possible that the anti-inflammatory activity of pterostilbene could activate the DCOⅱ oxidase through protein kinase C to stimulate neutrophils to not produce superoxide superoxide anion and myeloperoxidase, and the effect decreased significantly at 100μmol/L. Therefore, the effect of may be dose-dependent.

3. Skin photodamage Excessive Ultraviolet (UV) radiation can produce a large number of reactive oxygen species, destroy immune homeostasis, and lead to acute skin photodamage, aging and even tumor. Current studies have shown that the mechanism of UVB induced skin photodamage is complex, which may be related to oxidative stress damage caused by the production of ROS, including superoxide anions, hydroxyl radicals and hydrogen peroxide.
4. Resveratrol, the analogue of Zitan Qi, has been proved to effectively reduce acute inflammatory reactions such as skin erythematous and edema caused by UV and reduce the formation of sunburn cells. The effects of Zidanqi on SKH-1 hairless mice in acute and chronic UVB showed that Zidanqi had a preventive effect on acute UVB(360mJ/cm2) damage, such as skin thickening, redness, skin wrinkles and aging related to photoaging.

Method of synthesis
Using 3, 5-dimethoxybenzoic acid and p-hydroxybenzaldehyde as the main raw materials,pterostilbene was prepared by reduction, chlorination, Arbuzov rearrangement and Witting-Horner reaction
Synthesis of 3, 5-dimethoxy-benzyl alcohol (1) In a 150mL three-way flask, 40mL tetrahydrofuran and 4.0g(0.1mol) sodium borohydride were successively added under the ice bath, and the magnetic agitator was started.
Then 7.29g(0.04mol) of the raw material 3, 5-dimethoxybenzoic acid was slowly added, and after stirring for 30min, 10mL of tetrahydrofuran solution of 2.64mL concentrated sulfuric acid was slowly added, which was finished within 1h. Remove the ice bath and react at room temperature. TLC monitoring (EA: petroleum ether =1∶4) after the raw material reaction, slowly add 5mL methanol, then add 2.0mol/L sodium hydroxide solution 50mL, heating to 90℃ for 2h, cooling to room temperature. It was extracted with ethyl acetate (50mL×3), combined with organic phase, washed with distilled water (50mL×3), dried with anhydrous sulfuric acid, and the solvent was removed under pressure to obtain white coarse product. The crude product was recrystallized with ethanol/water to produce white acicular crystals.

Synthesis of 3, 5-dimethoxy-benzyl chloride (2) In a 150mL three-way flask, 30mL DMF(N, n-dimethylformamide), 3.02g(0.018mol) of 3, 5-dimethoxy-benzyl alcohol and 3mL of triethylamine were added successively under the ice bath. After the solution was clarified, the magnetic stirrers were turned on. Slowly add 3mL DMF solution of dichlorosulfoxide. After dripping, the ice bath was removed and the reaction was performed at room temperature. TLC monitored the reaction process (EA∶ petroleum ether =1∶10). After the reaction was completed (about 5h), the reaction solution was poured into the mixture of ice water and stood for 2h. The white solid was filtered, the crude ethanol/water was recrystallized, and the anhydrous sodium sulfate was dried to a light yellow solid.
3, 5 - dimethoxy phenyl methoxy phosphonic acid diethyl ester (3) the synthesis of 2.94 g (0.0158 mol) 3, 5 - dimethoxy benzyl chloride and 5.5 mL (0.0315 mol), diethyl phosphite put in three flask, heated to 140 ℃ reaction of 5 h after cooling to room temperature, vacuum distillation to remove excess of diethyl phosphite, An orange-red oily substance is produced.
Synthesis of 4-(tetrahydro-2h-pyran-2-oxygen) benzaldehyde (4) in 150mL three-way flask, 30mL dichloromethane, 2.94g(0.0236mol) p-hydroxybenzaldehyde, 0.61g(0.00236mol) p-toluene sulfonate pyridohum salt were added in sequence under the ice bath. Slowly add 3.3mL(0.00236mol) of dichloromethane solution of dihydropyran. After the addition, the ice bath was removed and the temperature was naturally heated to room temperature. After the TLC monitoring reaction (EA: petroleum ether =1∶5) was completed (about 3h), methylene chloride was used for extraction (50mL×3) and organic phase was combined. After washing with 50mL sodium hydroxide solution, 5% dilute hydrochloric acid and distilled water in turn, anhydrous sodium sulfate was dried and decompressive distillation was made into light yellow liquid.
Add 20mLDMF and 0.45g(0.008mol) sodium methanol into the oil mixture, stir for 30min, drop 20mLDMF solution of 3.25g(0.0158mol)4' -tetrahydropyran benzaldehyde under the ice water bath, and then temperature up to 100℃ for 1h reaction. Cool to room temperature and react overnight. Pour the reaction solution into 200mL ice water, adjust the pH value of the solution to 4-5 with concentrated hydrochloric acid, and stir at room temperature for 6h. Extract with ethyl acetate (50mL×3), combine organic phase, wash with distilled water (50mL×3), reduce pressure and remove the solvent to get oil crude product, ethanol recrystallization product pterostilbene.
