Preparation method of Symwite
1. First, add 0.2mol 2,4-diacetoxystyrene into the three-necked flask.
2. Add 4 mol of benzene and 0.001 mol of p-toluenesulfonic acid, then increase the temperature to 80°C and reflux, and keep this temperature for 5 hours.
3. After the temperature was lowered to 50°C, 4 mol of methanol was added, and then the temperature was raised to 64°C and refluxed, and then kept for 1 hour.
4. Atmospheric distillation to evaporate the solvent.
5. The residual material remaining in the flask was recrystallized to obtain 32 g of phenethyl resorcinol.
