4-Butyl Resorcinol, a highly effective skin whitening and brightening agent, has the following effects:
1. Strong inhibitor of 4-butyl resorcinol to tyrosinase and peroxidase;
2. 4-butyl resorcinol is an effective skin lightening agent and a toner for normal skin;

3. 4-butyl resorcinol is an effective whitening agent for pigmented skin;
4. 4-Butylresorcinol is effective against melasma (excessive pigmentation of skin exposed to sunlight);
5. 4-Butylresorcinol has a strong protective effect on H2O2-induced DNA damage;
6. 4-Butylresorcinol proved to have anti-glycation effect.
In the three processes of melanin source synthesis, 4-butylresorcinol not only has a very important inhibitory effect on tyrosinase activity, but its whitening activity also has a synergistic effect in the process.

1.Before the synthesis of melanin, it interferes with the synthesis and glycosylation of tyrosinase to prevent the enzyme from being absorbed by the melanosome.
2.During melanin synthesis, inhibits the activity of the enzyme, acts as a competitive inhibitor of tyrosinase and TRP1 enzymes, and reduces the formation of by-products that promote melanogenesis.
3.After melanin synthesis, it improves tyrosinase degradation, inhibits the transfer of melanosomes to keratinocytes, and has a light-stripping effect due to the action of fatty acids. This function is enhanced by the presence of fatty acids and regulates the degradation of tyrosinase.
