Hypericum Perforatum Extract Powder as  green to yellow. The stem epidermal cells are rectangular, with straight conjunct anticlinal walls, smooth cuticle, usually composed of 2 adjacent small epidermal cells, the outer skin is composed of 5 ~ 6 rows of thick horn cells. The secondary middle column is composed of dense ring cells in the phloem, most of which are lignified xylem and a small part is endophloem. The pith was lignified and pitted in the stem. The epidermis and phloem may contain oil glands. The adaxial cells of the leaves are polygonal, with corrugated or straight conjoined anticlinal walls; The cells on the dorsal side are small, and there are many undulating conjoined anticlinal walls. Stomata are usually planar and sometimes irregular. The stratum corneum is smooth and the front side is thicker. The leaf vein epidermal cells are slender, with straight cell walls but occasionally conjunct. Monolayer palisade cells with dorsoventral features and larger oil glands. The midrib of a leaf consists of an outer plessile vascular bundle containing a small amount of lignified xylem. Leaves free of calcium oxalate, glabrous. The flowers and sepals are similar in character to the leaves. Analytical method of hypericum perforatum

(1) USP method: weigh 10g of medicinal powder or equivalent extract, add 100ml methanol, shake for 15 minutes, filter, filtrate is the test solution. Hypericin was dissolved in methanol into a control solution containing 0.5mg per ml. Absorb 20μl each of the above two solutions, respectively, on the same 0.5mm silica gel G thin layer, with ethyl acetate - water - glacial acetic acid - methanol (10:2.6:1.1:1) as the development agent, unfold, the front edge to the plate 3/4 of the length of the remove, write down the solvent front, in the air to volatilize the dry solvent. Extract 0.1g, add 10ml methanol, shake for 5 minutes, the supernatant into a 50ml volumetric bottle, repeat the operation three times, fixed volume to the scale, filter with 0.45μm filter membrane as the test solution. The above test solution and control solution, each 5μl, were absorbed and placed on the same silica gel G thin layer. The solution was prepared with toluene - n-butanol - glacial acetic acid (3:6: 1) The thin plate was exposed to UV lamp (365nm). The test product and the control product showed the same bright red fluorescent spots (hypericin Rf0.71, pseudohypericin Rf0.50) at the corresponding positions.
